He continued on to the University of Southern California School of Dentistry where he graduated again with honors in 1984. Upon graduating, Dr. Mitchell accepted a one-year residency in dentistry at Fresno Valley Medical Center specializing in various forms of advanced general dentistry. After completing his residency in 1985, he embarked on private practice in the Bay Area. He has spent his career practicing in Cupertino and in Hayward. He has thirty plus years membership in the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the local Dental Society. He served on the executive board of the Southern Alameda County Dental Society, including serving as the Board President from 1992 to 1993.

Following Board Service, Dr. Mitchell was asked to be a member of the peer review committee. After several years serving on that board, he took over as the chairman of the committee which oversees quality assurance in the local dental community. His goal, along with Dr. Dittrich’s goal, has always been to provide patients with quality and compassionate personalized dental care in a modern comfortable setting.

Dr. Mitchell began his quest to become a dentist in high school. His keen interest in the profession was nurtured by his family dentist and a close friend of the family. Following their encouragement, and after observing the profession first hand in their offices, Dr. Mitchell enrolled in pre-dental college courses. From there, his interest and enjoyment grew and culminated in his enrollment in dental school. His goals and joy have always been interacting with patients closely to improve all aspects of their dental health as a pathway to a healthy happy life.
The Bay Area has been home to Dr. Mitchell and his family for over 30 years. He has raised his children there and enjoyed all the area has to offer. His daughter Rachel has competed in long distance running many years in the Bay Area and recently competed and represented the greater Bay Area at the 2020 Olympic marathon trials in Atlanta.

Our goal at DeAnza Family Dentistry is to provide quality, comfortable, personalized care to our patients through excellence in communication and treatment for an enriched experience at the dental office.
